I know I am really late with this post given that my daughter, Elizabeth Nicole (Betsy), was born on November 29, 2010 at 5:06 am. But, in my defense, she is my first and she has kept me really busy for the last 5 weeks. (that is my excuse and I am sticking with it) And will most definitely keep me busy for the next two decades.
Her birth was an amazing experience that I won’t soon forget. Even five weeks later, I still get a rush thinking about the miracle that I witnessed. And what a privilege it was to witness such an amazing event as your child being born.
Interconnected World
But what is also as equally amazing is the world she is going to grow up in. She is never going to know a disconnected world where you couldn’t talk with somebody in China as easily as you could talk to your next door neighbor. We are in the golden age of the internet right now, because most of us remember a world with out it, but she will never have that luxury or curse depending on your out look.
That is a real pink CAT-6 Ethernet jack that runs into her nursery. So she is well on her way and ready for gigabit speed Internet when she starts exploring the world through the world wide web.
Hopes and Prayers
My hope and prayers are that she grows up happy, smart, and strong. And if she chooses to follow in her fathers foot steps, I will have no problem with that at all. But if her heart takes her on a different path, I will have no problem with that either.
But as some added encouragement and because Sara Chipps told me to, I purchased this for her:
She is going to have to wait till she is at least 3 years old to play with this, but at least she will get some positive encouragement from a Barbie doll.
But… In the end
No matter what path she takes with her life, she will always know that I love her.
